August 1, 2011 – Day 3 of 30

Weight - 296.5
Day 3 has finally dragged its way around to me. I feel much better than the first two days. I’m still on a 12 hour night shift and my energy level is great. I slept like a baby today except when I had to urinate which felt as if my bladder was going to burst. My cravings are still hurting me badddddd….. Today the craving sin of choice seems to be a Texas Cheese Steak plate with hash browns from the Waffle House, yum, yum….. Now the difficult part comes, I got three days off. I really got to find something to occupy my time. I chatted with Joe and Phil via Facebook last night and it gave me a little push to get through. I'm gonna do this, I know I can.......

July 31, 2011 - Day 2 of 30

Weight – 297
Well it is day 2 and I feel alright.  My energy levels are so, so and my appetite is suppressed somewhat. I wish that I could say the same for my cravings….  I am craving everything that you can imagine, I even woke up dreaming of pizza.  A few pounds off the top isn’t too bad, even if it is only water weight.  I don’t know how so I am going to cut out the coffee. I am on another 12 hour nightshift tonight, long night to stay on track.

July 30, 2011 - Day 1 of 30

Weight - 302
The purpose of this blog is to document my journey through the next 30 days of consuming nothing but juice.  I realize that this is going to be extremely difficult.  The goal is to document my daily events, weight, activity and overall feelings.  In the past I have attempted to keep journals but I always leave them somewhere or forget to log when I have them handy.  With today’s technology this is an easy way to journal since I can access the blog from any computer and my android phone.  I’ve tried several other means like Yahoo notes and so forth but something is wrong with all other ways. Hopefully this blog site will work out.

Two days ago I watch this documentary on Netflix called Fat, Sick & Nearly Dead out of shear boredom.  After watching the lifestyle changes of Joe and Phil something really clicked.  I haven’t felt this motivate to get my life back in order for quite some time.  As I watched on with the Doritos and cheese dip being stuffed in my faced I realized that I am 36 and could be 2/3 through my life if I don’t change and fast.

The ultimate goal is 100lbs, I am currently 302 and about 202 would be ideal for my frame.  My program goal is similar to Phil’s in FSND, I set it for 30 days of straight juice and then slowly add-on solids like trail mix and solid veggie substitute items. I had a veggie burger one time and it wasn’t too bad however, I’m pretty sure that tofu is out of the question.  As of now I am not planning to become vegetarian, vegan or pursue any other non-meat lifestyle.  Instead, I will become more aware of the type of meat I consume and where it comes from.  Organic, free range and wild caught will be the target and in moderation.

Today is my first day on the juice and I am already having cravings. My wife and I under estimated how many vegetables are actually needed to produce a day's worth of juice. So, I'm on a 12 hour night shift with maybe not enough juice so I'm supplementing it with water. Luckily I can’t go anywhere. A portable juicer would be nice for a quick grocery store run when you’re in a pickle like this.

A special thanks to my wife Stephanie for making a commitment to ensure I stay on track.  I probably would not make it through the 30 days without your pledge, I love you......
